St. Francis has a friendly, family feel to it and comprises of a happy welcoming team. We are dedicated to the sensitive handling and quality care of your companion.  All the staff have their own pets and are aware of how it feels to have a sick animal.

For this we must meet strict health care standards. Our Professional team regularly attend further education and training courses so that we can continue to deliver unrivalled, up-to-date care for your companion.

Clare BVM&S MRCVS ( pictured here with her lovable dog Cleo who is 17 years old this year)is a Derry city native and qualified from Edinburgh University in 2011.  She has previously worked in a mixed practice in England and County Down. You’ll find Clare most days at St Francis with Cleo in tow. She enjoys both the challenge and variety that comes with working in a first opinion small animal practice.
 Jeremiah Aherne M.V.B, MRCVS   Jerry, aka the boss as he is also affectionately known around the clinic, qualified from the University College Dublin in 1973. That makes him very very experienced- a whole 43 years in total. Jerry has established Barrowvale Veterinary Clinic in both Bagenalstown, Carlow and  Graiguenamanagh, Kilkenny.  He is very excited about his new venture in opening St Francis, a purpose built small animal clinic in Carlow Town.
